Browser Open (touch-browser-open)

Universal Tutorial

Browser Open (touch-browser-open)

Version 1.1.0 requires a host supporting sdkapi: 261001, including initialization-time SDK calls, one-shot query preservation, and browser discovery fixes. Tuff 2.4.14-beta.55 is the first compatible release; beta.54 and earlier clients reject activation. Other plugins can continue to use previously supported SDK markers.

When to Use

  • You copied a URL and want it open in a local browser with one Enter — no pasting.
  • You want a specific browser (Chrome, Safari, or any other installed one) to open a link.
  • You want plain text sent straight to a search engine, or a one-key shortcut such as Weibo trending.

Trigger

Everything below works straight from the CoreBox root — no need to enter a feature first:

InputResult
example.com, https://example.com/a?b=1, or a URL just copied to the clipboardAn "open in " row appears; one Enter opens it in that browser
Any plain text (e.g. weather in Shenzhen)A "search with " row appears; one Enter opens the results page
A hot-entry keyword (e.g. 微博 or 微博热搜)An "open Weibo trending" row appears; one Enter opens the page

Explicit push features (unchanged behaviour):

Feature IDPurpose
browser-openPush mode: pick the default browser, a specific browser, a recent browser, or copy the URL
web-searchPush mode: enter search mode with the default or a chosen engine, including suggestions
search-engine-google / search-engine-bing / search-engine-duckduckgo / search-engine-baiduPush mode: enter that engine's search mode
browser-open-settingsSettings surface: manage search engines and hot/quick entries

Commands: url / link / open / 浏览器 / 网页 / 搜索 / google / bing / duckduckgo / 百度.

Core Capabilities

  • Copied URLs open directly: the URL is read from the query's own input payload, so no paste step is needed. http(s) links, www. hosts and bare domains such as example.com are accepted.
  • Single Enter: direct actions open the link without leaving CoreBox waiting for a second confirmation.
  • Chosen browser: entries are generated from the host's live browser inventory; a fresh short-lived token is requested at execution time, and neither paths nor tokens are persisted.
  • Configurable search engines: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Baidu are built in; add or remove your own engines, each with a {query} template and URL-encoded input.
  • Hot / quick entries: Weibo trending (https://s.weibo.com/top/summary) ships enabled; add your own name, keyword and URL.
  • Never hijacks files or paths: inputs such as README.md, ~/Workspace or /Users/me/file are not routed to web search.
  • Supported platforms: win32, darwin.

Config & Data

  • Search settings: search-settings.json (engines, default engine, hot/quick entries)
  • Recent browsers: recent-browsers.json (display name and time only — no tokens or paths)
  • Settings entry: type browser settings in CoreBox
  • Saved settings sync to the CoreBox results immediately, no restart required
  • Plugin directory: plugins/touch-browser-open

Permissions

  • Required: system.shell, network.internet, search.root-results, storage.plugin
  • Optional: clipboard.write
  • Without a granted permission the affected action is refused and is not recorded as successful

Quick Start

  1. Copy any URL, summon CoreBox and press Enter to open it in a browser.
  2. Type a sentence and pick "search with " to jump straight to results.
  3. Type browser settings to add or adjust engines, the default engine and hot entries.
